Surrey Water Polo Club is excited to announce our 2021 Coaching Staff.

Vladimir Ushakov

Club Coordinator/head Coach

Since Vladimir's arrival Surrey Water Polo has achieved significant success. He played 16 years of professional water polo with Dynamo Moscow and other clubs he has been a member of Russian, Ukraine, and Kazakhstan national teams, and participated in the 2012 Olympics. Vladimir has trained with some of the best coaches in the world, and has helped our athletes win numerous recreational and national medals.

Vlad Kruglikovskiy

Vlad Kruglikovskiy

Recreational Coach/Goalie Coach

Vlad has 15 years water polo playing experience in Kazakhstan, including participation with the junior national team. He has been coaching locally for 5 years, winning multiple medals in the Lower Mainland Water Polo and BCSSA leagues. Vlad graduated medical school in 1995 with a pediatric specialty, and is currently upgrading his education.

High Performance Assistant Coach

Evgeni's water polo career began in Israel, where he participated with the Junior National program. He has participated in numerous Fina masters tournaments, and is a Water Polo Canada NCL referee. His experience will be a significant benefit to our high performance athletes.

Katrina Shinkaruk

High Performance Assistant Coach 15/17U Girls

Katrina has 8 years of experience playing water polo in the lower mainland. She won a Canadian National championships in 2015 and has received numerous medals in NCL and BCSSA championships. Katrina has been coaching water polo and competitive swimming for 9 years. Katrina was the former head coach  at the Crescent Beach Swimming club for four seasons and was the youngest head coach to date in the history of BCSSA. In 2019 she was awarded the Ian Allen BCSSA coaching award. She is currently a student at the University of Victoria studying Exercise Science, Physical and Health Education. 

 

Madeleine Scarth

Junior Coach

Maddy has been playing water polo for the past seven years at both a recreational and high-performance level. Her team has achieved gold and silver medals at the Western Canadian Championships and she has been tournament MVP. She is also a competitve swimmer with provincial medals in multiple events over the last seven seasons and has set numerous provinvial records. This season, Maddy has been working with our 11/13U athletes. 

Darko Gavrilovic

Darko Gavrilovic

Junior Coach

Darko has represented Surrey Water Polo in many national and international tournaments. His team has achieved great success winning the Western Canada Championship and taking the silver medals at the National Finals as well as many other accomplishments in his sport life. Darko has a very positive personality and our young athletes enjoy practicing with him.
